    Many thanks for the video. I just ordered this NR330 and realized that it has no external antenna port. BTW we can just drill 2 holes at the casing near where the LAN ports are, and use a nut to secure the SMA connector, this will make it looks like a real external antenna port.

      When I started surfing there was hardly anyone in the water. Guys would get 15 rides a session. Now it has turned into an aquatic mosh pit of inadequacy. Same thing happened with Cable internet; People would brag about their speeds until everyone got it. There is another way... While there are more people at the table, you can still get plenty to eat. Better signal will get you faster speeds. While you will still see slowdowns, slowing for 700Mpbs to 500Mbps during peak times it not an issue. Going to 5G SA allows you to get different (less crowded) bands and avoid the 4G slowdown. When I first put an antenna on my modem, I was getting 700-950Mbps but now that same solution yields half (as you could see). By changing hardware, I am able to change to frequencies that my T-Mobile provided modem can't get! I can even craft my scores to get me more balanced performance and fix the CG-NAT. So, what was your question?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408 День назад

      As far as shutting itself off, it is probably because it is too hot. This device does not like to serve WiFi very much. If you have over 10 devices, it gets hot then shuts off. Just use a different router and it will be fixed. I would always use my own router and using Bridge Mode allows you to do so without getting into double NAT. Oh, and it is faster too.

      Nope. Once you buy it you own it. I recently took it to vacation with us. We went to NY, Boston, Vermont and Montreal. Each hotel, I either plugged it into their Ethernet (if available) or logged into their WiFi. It created a secure network (using my VPN) that mimics our home network (same SSID and password). This made it so that all our phones and tablets worked instantly but were protected by a VPN. Great stuff. I could also use it to share my phone connection with the family. I have a larger HotSpot data plan and it can share that too.

    Great video Peter, for a part time RV'er is there a cellular system that works great for around a $200-$250 budget? I can't justify spending $500 on a system when I would only use it in my RV once every month or two. I'm a T-Mobile customer and are currently using the T-Mobile Gateway in our RV ($30 per month). I would like to mount an antenna on my RV ladder and the amp inside the rv. What do you recommend?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408 3 дня назад

      Obviously, I don't set or have control over the prices these manufactures charge, but If I had $250 to spend on a mobile solution... I would make the T-Mobile gateway as good as possible. Because you are mobile, I would recommend using an omin-directional antenna like this one amzn.to/3L2zkvD I would mount it on the TV antenna riser so that I could lower it while travelling. If I could only mount the antenna to not be lowered, I might go for one or two of these amzn.to/4bmb4z3 One good 2x2 MIMO is the greatest improvement, but two are even better.

      No, I have not heard that but you can always sign up for T-Mobile for business (which is BYOD). It is still FAW (fixed area wireless) they only want to sell additional bandwidth in markets where there is additional bandwidth. I get that. Speeds are influenced by traffic on the network, so time related. That is why I like getting n41 and n25... less traffic than all the 4G bands out there.

       @projectnerdvana2820 Your needs are likely different than the target audience for this video. The 5688W 5G device you're looking at for $50 on eBay isn't something you would have to purchase to utilize T-Mobile Home Internet. When you sign up for the service, you are given a gateway for free at no additional monthly cost. If you signed up for the service today, you'd get the newer gateway seen in the video (Nokia 5G21) included as part of the monthly service cost. The solution Peter is showing here, is more of an all-in-one that combines several other devices, and features into one unit at a bit of a premium. You may not have a need for these in your scenario. I'd suggest you save your money, stick with the default service, and see if it meets your needs. If you aren't happy with the signal, that's where the videos like this one and others on Peter's channel are helpful.

      First and foremost T-Mobile is a phone network so they give phone customers priority. Everyone knows that no one's going to download three terabytes onto a phone so they allow them to have faster speeds. Home and business internet users use a lot more data so they are deprioritized when the network gets crowded to help share the network. That is why your iPhone seems to get really good speeds compared to your PC. Also an 8x8 memo sounds pretty cool but MIMO stands for multiple input multiple output, I don't know of a technology that would allow a single PC to use all of these inputs and outputs at the same time. (That said someone will do it, and I of course will have to get one)

    I don't know if it would be worth it to get a 3rd party gateway/modem is im already getting 800 down with a ping of around 20. I just invested in a nice wifi 6e router and turned the wifi from the gateway off! I always want the best so just curious any thoughts?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408 5 дней назад

      Those seem like some pretty good scores so if it works for you and you don't need the ability to serve or port forward then you don't need to make any further changes. Now if you want the ability to run a security camera DVR or serve PLEX to friends and family then you do need to replace this gateway. Right now your modem even though you turn the Wi-Fi off is still doing NAT, which means you have a double net situation but that's not a big deal at all and in fact can make your network more secure.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408 6 дней назад

      Hey Earl, Thanks. The absolute BEST VALUE in Cellular Routers (gateways) is the one that these mobile ISP providers give you for free!! ...for many this is all they need and it is hard to beat that. If that is not good enough, it comes down to what do you need next: Better Signal? Better Bands? or fixing the issues inherent in there system: CG-NAT, Advanced Features like Port Forwarding or the lack of MESH support. I wanted to use my own router (WiFi) because it is so much better (MESH) but that put me in a Double-NAT. I am a huge PLEX fan and love to share with my family, but CG-NAT was screwing with me. The only way to solve CG-NAT is using Bridge Mode and DDNS on your Router. I have found several that will do this but I also have a reception problem, so I need an Antenna. I have several outdoor antennas and they are amazing but it doesn't address the other issues and still limits my placement. The best solutions are the outdoor antennas like the Yeacomm NR610 and the Elsys Amplimax Ultra. The Ultra does everything and GETS DOUBLE THE UPLINK SPEED of the Yeacomm (I obviously have a bias here) but holy smokes if you need a 4x4 MIMO antenna you are already spending $399, so this is only $300 more to get the BEST signal that I have seen to date and fix all the issues I have found. It's a leap, I get that but it makes my $50/mo internet work AMAZING!!

  • @PeterC408
    @PeterC408 15 дней назад

    Sure I've covered many routers. It all depends on what you're trying to do. Are you trying to get better signal or are you trying to fix the problems that are inherit with the gateway that T-Mobile sent you. The problems that keep you from being able to serve out, the problems that keep you with low upload scores or the problems that make some software complain? I've managed to fix them all and even found several devices that can do it. But instead of telling you about a $600 modem and then about a $400 antenna, I've recently found an outdoor modem that does both.

  • @TeaBeeAdventures
    @TeaBeeAdventures 15 дней назад

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408 8 дней назад

      It gets pretty crazy with the lingo, but there are gateways, modems and routers (or WiFi access points). I like to keep them separate as challenges are different both inside and out. My favorite modems allow for bridge mode and solve many problems that T-Mobile claimed was impossible!! These modems start at $600, not my fault.
